M&A Consultant (Integration & Separation)
Deals get signed in boardrooms. They succeed or fail in the integration and separation: in the payroll cutover, the supply contracts nobody mapped, the ERP that has to split in two, and the TSA that quietly runs on for an extra year, the failure to deliver on synergies because of separate systems landscapes. If you've lived through that, we want to talk to you.
TUNDRA Resource Analytics is a boutique consultancy built for mining, resources and asset-intensive industries. We have grown into a remote team of 40+ experienced practitioners and are the 2026 Telstra Best of Business state winners for Growth in Victoria. We're a practical, hands on, fun, gritty & deeply experienced alternative to the big firms. Clients get people who have done the job before, and we stay to deliver the work, not just write the recommendations.
Our transactions practice is growing quickly across integrations, separations, carve-outs, divestments and pre-deal studies. We're looking for M&A Consultants who can walk into a client and make the transaction work in real life.
What you'll do
• Plan and deliver integration and separation programs from pre-deal assessment through Day 1, stabilisation and TSA exit
• Run rapid desktop reviews and risk assessments of separation and integration readiness, then turn findings into clear, practical roadmaps
• Map functional interdependencies across technology (ERP and non ERP), finance, legal, supply chain, HSE, people, asset management and technical services, and work out what has to move, what has to be split, what has to stand up, and what has to be shared
• Scope, draft and manage Transitional Services Agreements (TSAs), including service definitions, pricing logic, exit plans and governance
• Build and run Separation/Integration Management Office (SMO/IMO) disciplines: plans, RAID logs, decision registers, cutover plans and status reporting that executives actually read
• Work with functional leads, legal advisers and buyer or seller teams to keep workstreams aligned and moving to deadline
• Support data-room readiness, due diligence inputs and Day 1 readiness assessments
• Turn complexity into simple, decision-ready storylines for steering committees and executives
• Help build TUNDRA's reusable M&A IP, including playbooks, templates and checklists, and mentor less experienced team members as the practice grows
What you'll bring
• Hands-on experience delivering at least one integration, separation, carve-out or divestment, whether in consulting, corporate development or a functional lead role inside the business
• A strong grasp of the transaction lifecycle and the practical mechanics of Day 1, TSAs, entity and contract transfers, and people transfers
• Proven program or workstream management skills: you can hold a plan together across many moving parts and stakeholders
• Clear, confident communication with senior stakeholders, and the ability to write and present simply
• Strong analytical and Excel skills, and comfort working with incomplete information under time pressure
• A relevant tertiary qualification (for example, commerce, finance, law, engineering or business). Postgraduate study or a CA/CPA, PMP or Prince2 is welcome but not essential
• Australian working rights, and willingness to travel to client sites, including regional and remote operations
Highly regarded: mining back-office experience
We especially want to hear from you if you've worked inside, or closely with, the back office of a mining or resources business, particularly in:
• Finance: chart of accounts, entity structures, month-end close, FP&A, costing, tax and treasury separation
• Legal and commercial: contract novation and assignment, tenements and permits, JV arrangements, completion checklists and conditions precedent
• Supply chain and procurement: vendor and contract migration, inventory and spares, logistics, and critical supply continuity across the cutover
• Systems transformation: ERP separation or consolidation (SAP, Oracle, Pronto, JDE and similar), data migration, clone-and-go, and application and infrastructure TSAs
Experience in HSE, HR/payroll, shared services or technical services in a mining setting is also a big plus. If you've seen how a mine site actually runs behind the scenes, you'll be valuable here.
The TUNDRA vibe
We hire for capability and character in equal measure. Our values aren't a poster on the wall. We use them to make real decisions:
• Courage: you'll raise the hard issue early, even when it's uncomfortable
• Integrity: you do what you say, and you tell clients what they need to hear
• Authenticity: no corporate theatre. Be yourself, be vulnerable, build real trust with clients and colleagues
• Performance: you deeply care about outcomes, quality and leaving the client better off
Our people are curious, commercially minded and down to earth. They roll up their sleeves, take ownership and back each other. We're serious about the work and don't take ourselves too seriously.
Why TUNDRA
• Meaningful work on live transactions across mining and resources, with real responsibility from day one
• Fully remote, flexible working built around your life, not a commute
• A small, senior, collaborative team where your voice shapes how the practice grows
• Exposure across finance, data, operations, and people and change, so you can broaden your skills well beyond M&A
• A growing firm with big ambitions and a genuine commitment to developing its people
