Full Stack Engineer @ Bearmore

Full-stack engineer (lead level) - 2-3 days per week contactor

What You’ll Be Doing

As a solo engineer (in the short-term!), you will be building and scaling our Typescript / AWS / React Native (mobile) / Expo / Prisma / PostgreSQL / React (web) apps.

• Full-stack development: Bring to life intuitive, engaging and performant user interfaces, from database architecture to front-end UX code and deployment.
• Quality assurance: Adhere to rigorous quality assurance processes and standards to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of our technology stack.
• Technical principles and processes: Use and improve a scalable software development life cycle and operational structures to accommodate our growth.
• Infrastructure: Provide insights on scalable, secure, and compliant infrastructure/software stacks, collaborating with hosting service providers for cost-effective operations.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with the Founder, Product Design, future Engineers and and other stakeholders to align technical initiatives with business goals and user requirements.
• Team growth: Assist in attracting and onboarding talented engineers by being a talented engineer, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
• Security & compliance: Ensure the utmost privacy and security of customer data across the organisation, with the ability to work with external penetration testing if required.

What You'll Already HaveGeneral Experience

• Experience working in a sub 10 person company (or client) in a small team of engineers, in the last 5 years
• A proven track record of hands on, full stack technical capability in building and scaling consumer-facing digital products
• An ability to move quickly, think commercially and care deeply about shipping code of high quality and security
• Deep, hands-on engagement with the AI coding landscape — testing new models and paradigms as they emerge

You Are Comfortable Working On

• Deploying mobile apps via Expo within the Apple and Google app stores
• Complex state management in React Native, and general React development (ideally including Next.js)
• Writing functional software paradigms in Typescript. Ideally, you also have experience with a functional language (e.g. Haskell, Scala, Rust) i.e. monads, pattern matching, isolating side effects
• You are familiar with advanced type abstraction; pipeable function composition; and monadic sequencing. You’re genuinely comfortable to work on code like this: https://github.com/inato/fp-ts-cheatsheet/blob/main/Details.md
• Writing and deploying AWS cloud configurations (Lambda, SQS, and API Gateway) via CDK
• Hardening authentication security and the secure use of API tokens & keys in frontend code
• DevOps: writing and improving deployment pipelines, configurations, such as with GitHub Actions
• Observability/marketing/billing technologies: PostHog; Intercom; RevenueCat; branch.io; Klaviyo
