The Opportunity

We’re looking for a skilled SAP S/4HANA Performance Tester to support a large-scale SAP transformation program.

This role will focus on ensuring the performance, scalability, and stability of business-critical processes across SAP S/4HANA, with performance engineering across Fiori, APIs, batch jobs, integrations, and HANA database layers.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who can operate across functional, technical, and infrastructure layers, and provide clear insights into system performance risks and optimisation

opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement performance testing strategy for SAP S/4HANA programs
• Design and execute load, stress, endurance, and volume testing across key business processes
• Develop realistic workload models based on production usage patterns
• Perform performance testing across:
• SAP Fiori apps / UI5
• OData services and APIs
• Batch jobs and background processing
• Interfaces and middleware
• Analyse system performance using SAP HANA tools, traces, and monitoring outputs
• Identify bottlenecks across:
• Application layer: Fiori / ABAP
• Database layer: HANA
• Integration layer: middleware / APIs
• Collaborate with SAP Basis, functional, infrastructure, and delivery teams
• Conduct capacity planning and scalability assessments
• Support continuous performance validation through CI/CD pipelines
• Produce clear performance reports, insights, and tuning recommendations

Skills & Experience Required

• 5+ years’ experience in performance testing / performance engineering
• Strong experience across SAP environments
• Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA performance testing highly regarded
• Strong understanding of:
• SAP S/4HANA architecture
• SAP Fiori / UI5
• OData services
• API-based integrations
• Experience with performance testing tools such as:
• LoadRunner / LoadRunner Cloud
• Apache JMeter
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting capability
• Ability to identify and explain performance bottlenecks across complex systems
• Strong communication skills with technical and business stakeholders

Highly Regarded

• Strong knowledge of SAP HANA database performance, including:
• Expensive statements analysis
• SQL plan cache
• HANA Studio / Cockpit
• Experience with SAP performance tools / transactions:
• ST03N
• STAD
• ST12
• SAT
• SQL Trace / ST05
• Experience testing:
• Fiori transactions
• RFCs
• IDocs
• Interfaces and middleware such as CPI or PI/PO
• Experience in S/4HANA transformation or migration programs
• Exposure to RISE with SAP or cloud-hosted S/4 environments
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace or AppDynamics
• Understanding of DevOps and automation frameworks
• Knowledge of ABAP performance tuning concepts
