Senior Application Engineer

Senior Application Engineer - Renewable EnergyFull-time position, based in Australia

Our client is looking for a full-time remote Senior Application Engineer in Australia. This role will lead technical proposals and team delivery for energy storage projects, reporting to the APAC Director of Application Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead RFx/tender technical strategies to boost bid success and win rates.
• Convert client needs into profitable BESS solutions meeting margin and delivery goals.
• Optimize system designs (DC/AC, PCS, EMS) for performance, cost, and risk balance.
• Oversee sizing/simulations for pricing, guarantees, and contracts.
• Spot and mitigate technical risks to safeguard profitability.
• Represent in client negotiations, clarifications, and value positioning vs. rivals.
• Ensure grid compliance to minimize post-award changes.
• Partner with supply chain/engineering on costs and timelines.
• Advise contracts, guarantees, warranties, and bankability with IPPs/EPCs/finance.
• Manage/develop a top-tier Application Engineering team for bid efficiency and quality.
• Cut proposal times and elevate documentation standards.
• Engage at meetings, sites, and events (domestic focus, occasional international).

What We’re Looking For

• 5–10+ years in BESS, renewables, or grid power systems.
• Hands-on PCS/AC integration experience (required).
• Expertise in BESS sizing and hybrid setups.
• Utility-scale tender support (50–500+ MWh ideal).
• PV+BESS or Wind+BESS exposure a plus.
• Stellar stakeholder communication.
• Bachelor’s in Electrical, Electronics, or Power Systems Engineering.
• Australian work rights essential; Brisbane preferred with Sydney/Melbourne projects.
