Job Description

Posted on: January 28, 2026

About Us Shorthand exists to empower creative teams to produce and publish beautiful, transformative content radically faster. We’ve begun our journey by creating an easy-to-use platform for one of the most creatively and technically demanding use cases on the web — immersive feature stories — and we’re proud to count many of the world’s best known and most discerning publishers, brands, not-for-profits, and universities as loyal customers. Shorthand is a growing, investor-backed company with customers on every continent (except Antarctica!), and there’s never been a more exciting time to join our band of geeks with art and heart. We’re looking for a Senior Content Marketing Manager to join our team in Australia or New Zealand. The role comes with a high level of responsibility and autonomy. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an ambitious but down-to-earth team that is making an outsized positive impact in the digital publishing space. What you’ll be doing Our Senior Content Marketing Manager is a big part of the Shorthand magic. The purpose of this role is to plan, create, and scale content that clearly communicates Shorthand’s value, builds trust with our audience, and drives meaningful demand — grounded in real customer stories, insights, and outcomes. You’ll know you’ve been successful in this role when our content consistently resonates with the right buyers, supports pipeline growth, and strengthens Shorthand’s position as a leader in high-quality digital storytelling. The successful candidate will join our Growth & Marketing team, and report to the VP of Growth & Marketing. In this role, you’ll help define how Shorthand shows up through content across the funnel — from brand and demand generation through to sales enablement and customer advocacy. You’ll work closely with Product Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, our Senior Editor, Design, and freelance copywriters to ensure our content is compelling, consistent, and aligned with our positioning and goals. This is a senior, high-impact role with meaningful influence. You’ll be expected to think strategically about content’s role in growth, while also being hands-on in shaping and producing standout work. In This Role, You Will

  • Own Shorthand’s content strategy, ensuring it supports brand, demand generation, and revenue goals across the funnel.
  • Partner with Product Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success to translate positioning, use cases, and proof points into compelling content.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our buyers, users, and market, and reflect that insight in content themes, narratives, and formats.
  • Plan and produce high-quality content including reports, landing pages, email campaigns, ad copy, product videos, and sales-supporting assets.
  • Collaborate with designers to ensure content is visually engaging and aligned with Shorthand’s brand and storytelling standards.
  • Support product and feature launches with strong narrative-driven content that explains value and drives adoption.
  • Own Shorthand’s AEO, GEO, and SEO strategy, ensuring our content is discoverable, authoritative, and well-represented across search engines, AI-driven answers, and emerging discovery channels.
  • Drive off-site content and authority building through brand mentions, backlinks, partner content, and strategic collaborations, working closely with partners, PR, and industry publications to expand Shorthand’s reach and credibility.
  • Ensure content is consistent, accurate, and aligned across website copy, lifecycle communications, and campaign assets.
  • Measure and report on content performance and use insights to continuously improve impact and effectiveness.

What we’re looking for The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • A bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Significant experience (ideally 6+ years) in content marketing, editorial, or a closely related role, preferably in B2B SaaS, media, or technology.
  • A strong portfolio of content across formats (for example articles, case studies, reports, landing pages, or campaign content). Applicants should include links or examples of relevant work as part of their application.
  • Strong ambition to experiment, move quickly and drive measurable results, with proven experience using data, taste and judgement to shape content strategy and prioritisation.
  • Hands-on experience optimising content for conversion and discoverability, with a clear understanding of how content supports pipeline and revenue outcomes.
  • Proven ability to create content that balances editorial quality with commercial impact.
  • Excellent written, editorial, and storytelling skills, with the ability to make complex topics clear and engaging for specific audiences.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Product Marketing, Sales, Design, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple content streams while maintaining high standards.
  • A passion for visual storytelling and publishing high-quality, high-performing content on the web.

You’ll be a great fit for our team if:

  • You have exceptional attention to detail.
  • You are collaborative and know how to work with others to meet shared goals.
  • You are a proactive self-starter, who does not need to be told what to do and will be resourceful in order to find solutions to any challenge.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment, and possess a high level of intellectual curiosity.
  • You are intrinsically motivated, deriving happiness from a job well done.

Why work for us We Offer

  • Options for working your way: fully remote working, flexible hours and an allowance for a co-working space if you prefer.
  • True autonomy, with the freedom to grow the role, and the chance to shape how our product is perceived, positioned, and sold.
  • The opportunity to work in a growing SaaS company that is still small enough that you can make a real impact.
  • An allowance for setting up your home office, a laptop, and any peripherals you need to do your job.
  • An Employee Option Plan for all team members.
  • A Health and Wellness fund to support your healthy lifestyle, as well as access to coaching and counselling services.
  • Paid parental leave if you are growing your tribe.

Shorthand’s interview process We value direct communication here at Shorthand and want to be transparent on how we hire. Our process involves:

  • An initial Zoom screen: You’ll have an informal Zoom meeting with the hiring manager to discuss your background, the role, and what led you to apply.
  • A work task: We’ll ask you to complete a take-home task, similar to the work you’ll be doing in the role, using our software platform. This should take approximately 2-4 hours. This helps you to develop familiarity with our platform ahead of meeting with the hiring panel and helps us to verify that you’d be a great fit for the role.
  • Interviews: You’ll have interviews with the hiring panel over Zoom. This means you’ll typically get to meet another 3 people from Shorthand, including our CEO.
  • Final checks: The successful candidate will undergo a reference and criminal background check prior to us sending the final employment agreement.

Our workplace is 100% distributed and all interviews are conducted virtually unless otherwise advised. Please let us know of any reasonable accommodations you may need during the interview process. Applications close on 16 February. Please use PDF versions for all documents.
