Business Systems Engineer
Job Description
Posted on: January 31, 2026
Join Planna, an innovative prop-tech startup revolutionising the way architects and developers handle town planning approvals through cutting edge technology. If you're passionate about automations, technical problem solving, and want to grow alongside a dynamic team, this is the role for you. Backed by Paloma Group (creators of Afterpay), Planna offers long-term stability and exciting growth opportunities. Be part of our journey reshaping the future of Design and Planning!
About the Role:
As a Business Systems Engineer at Planna, you'll own the integrations, tooling, and technical plumbing across our go to market and operations stack. This isn't about building core product features or managing heavy infrastructure. It's about making sure all our systems talk to each other seamlessly, our internal workflows run smoothly, and our sales, ops, and finance teams have the automation and tools they need to move fast. You'll be the go to person for technical implementation across platforms like Webflow, Pipedrive, Stripe, Pipedream, and more.
What You’ll Do:
Build and maintain serverless workflows (Pipedream or similar) to automate GTM and ops processes
Wire together CRMs, internal systems, and third party tools (Pipedrive, Stripe, Webflow, etc.)
Handle data syncs, automated retries, and edge cases. You understand how integrations break in practice and know how to build systems that handle failures gracefully.
Configure Stripe products, subscriptions, and payment flows
Build onboarding flows and internal automations to support sales, ops, and finance workflows
Support Webflow development and customizations as needed
Take loosely defined internal problems, shape sensible solutions, ship them, and iterate
Troubleshoot technical issues with end to end systems thinking
Document processes and leave a clear trail through docs or comments
Explain trade offs and solutions to non-engineers across the team
What We’re Looking For:
Comfortable working in JavaScript and with APIs; able to build and maintain serverless workflows and get things live without over engineering
Hands on experience wiring CRMs, internal systems, and third party tools together; understands data syncs, idempotency, retries, edge cases, and how things break in practice
Looks at workflows holistically rather than isolated functions; pays attention to data integrity, permissions, environments, and downstream impacts across GTM and ops tooling
Able to take a loosely defined internal problem, shape a sensible solution, ship it, and iterate; comfortable working async and leaving a clear trail through docs or comments
Experience in design, planning, or construction industries (advantageous)
What We Offer:
Competitive contractor rates (AUD based, to be discussed based on experience)
Remote work with Australian time zones for collaboration or in person at our Sydney office
Direct collaboration with founders and immediate impact on company operations
A supportive team environment where your work makes a real difference
Opportunity to grow with an innovative, exciting company. Let's chat!
