This is an opportunity to join McConnell Dowell as a Regional HR Manager, partnering with senior business and project leaders across our Central and West regions. 

About the role 
As a key member of our Regional Business and HR Management Team, this role initially supports the Central and West (WA and SA). Reporting to the General Manager Human Resources Australia, this role plays an integral part in contributing to key regions in the Australian business unit, regional and project management teams and the national HR management team.  
 
Based in our Perth or Adelaide office, you will work closely with Regional Leaders and a collaborative National HR team, playing a key role in building workforce capability, driving organisational performance, and helping shape the future of our people strategy.  

Key responsibilities include:  
  • Regional HR Strategy & Business Performance: You will collaborate with our Regional Business and Project leaders to build people capabilities, provide outstanding people management counsel, and oversee the execution of all HR processes. You’ll also track effectiveness and ensure visibility of goals. 
  • Leadership Development: You will work with the General Manager Human Resources to refine our capability needs, provide coaching for high-performance behaviours, and support senior leaders. 
  • Work winning: Partner with estimating, commercial and delivery teams during tendering activity, providing workforce insights, organisational planning and tactical social impact outcomes  
  • Talent and Workforce Planning: Lead regional talent, succession and workforce planning across project mobilisation and demobilisation, aligning capability, development and retention priorities with the project pipeline. 
  • Engagement & Culture: You’ll drive the evolution of our company culture through strategic initiatives and action plans to boost engagement, as well as helping to continually improve our Employee Value Proposition (EVP). 
  • Change Management: You will lead and support organisational changes with a keen understanding of their impact on people, including but not limited to improved diversity and inclusion outcomes. Your expertise will guide us through major programs of work with a people centric approach. 
About you 
This is a key leadership role within the McConnell Dowell Australia business. The ideal candidate will have at least eight years of relevant experience and a tertiary qualification. Experience in the construction or resources sectors is preferred. 
 
  • Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to engage internal and external stakeholders, navigate ambiguity, build strong relationships, and deliver outcomes that position HR as a strategic partner. 
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and influencing capability, supported by experience managing HR systems, procedures, and teams. 
  • Commercial and Financial Acumen: Ability to develop practical solutions that positively contribute to business performance. 
  • Experience: Demonstrated success delivering outcomes in complex, fast-changing environments, ideally with broad knowledge of infrastructure or building construction.
