Join a boutique firm specialising in business valuations. You’ll work directly with our Principal to manage a portfolio of valuation engagements end-to-end — from client onboarding through to final reporting — with full mentoring and training provided.

As one of two Valuation Associates, you'll have a peer to connect with and bounce ideas and knowledge off. Further, you'll be supported by our awesome Office Manager and the Principal of the practice, Stephen Groves.

The oppportunity

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong accounting knowledge, excellent communication skills and a desire to enjoy a career in valuations. You’ll manage valuation processes and client relationships, while the Principal will assist and guide you and be the report signatory.

Upon commencement we will provide third-party training on business valuations. In addition we will provide internal sessions outlining how we work and undertake valuations. In addition, we'll ensure your client workload increases gradually so that you feel confident and comfortable with what you are doing.

The role is relatively flexible - the Principal will typically want to meet with you 2 (sometimes 3) times a week over Microsoft Teams to review the progress of matters and answer any queries, you will of course need to attend client meetings (commonly a further 2 or 3 Microsoft Teams meetings per week), and beyond that you can organise your time to undertake valuation analysis and draft valuation reports.

Valuation workloads can be a bit variable - sometimes you'll have a lot to do, other times you will be able to take it a bit easy. Sometimes there are client deadlines, othertimes client matters run on more relaxed timeframes. On balance however, most commercially minded people find the work interesting and rewarding.

What you'll do

• Prepare and issue engagement letters
• Request and collate client information
• Review and analyse financial statements and supporting documents
• Develop valuation workpapers using our templates (and occasionally design custom workpapers)
• Undertake valuation analysis
• Draft valuation reports and deliverables using our templates
• Schedule and conduct Q&A meetings with clients
• Attend client meetings to explain findings and reports

Third-party and internal training in business valuations is provided at commencement.

About you

• Ideally degree qualified in accounting, commerce, finance or similar
• Solid understanding of accounting concepts and financial statements
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Confident, professional and client-focused
• Highly organised and detail-driven
