DescriptionAbout Future Group Future Group is not your traditional financial services company - we're a collective of super funds and services committed to changing our planet now for a better tomorrow. When you join us, you’ll become part of a team united by a clear and important mission: to lead the investment movement by advocating and campaigning for a future worth retiring into. As our Finance Operations Manager, you’ll be the engine room of Future Group’s finance function. This is a 12-month fixed-term, full-time opportunity, created to strengthen and uplift our core finance operations during an important period of growth and change. You’ll own Accounts Payable and financial operations, partner closely with FP&A and Financial Accounting, and continuously improve the tools and processes that support the wider business. If you’re successful, finance at Future Group will feel simpler, faster, more reliable, and easier for everyone to work with. And the best part, you’ll be joining an amazing team. Our crew thrives on collaboration, innovation, and purpose. Expect to work alongside passionate colleagues who are united in their drive to lead positive change. At Future Group, diversity, creativity, and excellence are at the heart of everything we do. We strongly encourage applications from people of diverse backgrounds, lived experiences, and identities. We are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone feels welcome and supported. If you require any adjustments during the recruitment process, reach out to our talent team at careers@futuregroup.com.au – we’ll happily accommodate your needs to ensure an equitable experience for all. Future Group values lived experience and we encourage applications from people with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds, who have caring responsibilities, from culturally and racially marginalised groups, people with disability, people who experience ageism, LGBTQIA+ people, and people who experience social exclusion because of their social class. You'll love this job if you:
- Enjoy bringing structure, clarity, and momentum to complex operational environments
- Like being the person who keeps things moving and unblocks others
- Get satisfaction from improving processes and making systems work better
- Are comfortable making decisions and escalating risks when needed
- Love balancing detail with delivery; accuracy and pace matter to you
- Enjoy working cross-functionally and building strong relationships
- Care deeply about working for a purpose-driven organisation
We're looking for someone who
- Has solid experience across finance operations and Accounts Payable
- Is confident managing external partners, including bookkeepers and banks
- Understands end-to-end AP, expenses, credit cards, and cash management
- Can assess existing processes and redesign them for scale and efficiency
- Has experience administering finance tools and systems (Xero preferred)
- Is comfortable working in an agile, evolving environment
- Can prioritise effectively and manage competing demands
- Communicates clearly with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
You’re someone who:
- Brings structure, clarity, and calm to complex or fast-moving environments
- Is comfortable operating with autonomy and making sound, timely decisions
- Has a strong sense of ownership and sees work through end-to-end
- Balances meticulous attention to detail with the ability to work to deadlines
- Enjoys improving processes and simplifying how finance operates day-to-day
- Communicates clearly and confidently with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Is proactive in identifying risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
- Thrives in an agile environment and adapts well to changing priorities
- Is motivated by working for a purpose-driven organisation and aligned to Future Group’s mission
In this role, you will:
- Oversee day-to-day finance operations including Accounts Payable, expenses, credit cards, and cash management
- Ensure accurate and timely supplier payments while maintaining strong controls and compliance
- Manage and support our external Bookkeeper, including work prioritisation and quality oversight
- Review, optimise, and standardise AP and finance operations processes across the Group
- Own and administer core finance systems, acting as the go-to contact for access, setup, and support
- Identify opportunities for automation and lead the implementation of new finance tools and workflows
- Partner closely with FP&A to ensure transactions are coded correctly and support quality reporting
- Work with Financial Accounting to implement policy changes and ensure adherence to finance standards
- Support month-end activities, ad-hoc reporting, and other finance initiatives as required
Don’t tick all the boxes? that’s okay, we like thinking outside the box anyway. We value skills, passion and who you are over what you’ve done or where you’ve studied. So if this job strikes a chord, we want to hear from you! Why would you enjoy working at Future Group?
- A purpose-driven organisation - spend your days working on making this world a better place! The more we grow, the bigger the impact we are making on climate change and inequality
- A B Corp organisation that cares about how it behaves inside and out
- Flexibility to fit work into your life (not your life around our work). School drop-offs/pick-ups and lunch-time gym sessions are a thing here
- The choice to work from home, from one of our co-working spaces, from anywhere within Australia or even from overseas (for a short period of time)
- The potential to own a piece of the Future Group pie with our unique Employee Share Ownership Program (with some fineprint)
- Fun company-wide events
- Progressive, people-focused policies and benefits including Menstrual and Menopausal Leave, Public holidays swaps, Cultural Leave, Mental Health Leave and Gender Affirmation Guidelines and Leave
- We offer employee network groups for people from diverse backgrounds: SuperGenders for cisgender women, trans men and women and non-binary folks; SuperGlobal for culturally diverse folks; and SuperPride for LGBTQIA+ folks. The groups are a safe, supportive space for people to share experiences and ideas
- An inclusive parental leave package, with 20 weeks’ paid parental leave for birthing and non-birthing parents of all genders
- Other perks such as access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), the ability to purchase leave, novated leasing arrangements for electric vehicles, and a few more to find out!
