Job Description
Posted on: April 28, 2026
Mechanical Engineering AI TrainerAbout The Role We partner with the world's leading AI research teams to build smarter, more technically rigorous AI models — and we need mechanical engineers to help make it happen. As a Mechanical Engineering AI Trainer, you'll put your deep domain knowledge to work challenging, auditing, and refining the reasoning of advanced language models across fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics, and more. This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of engineering and artificial intelligence — without leaving your home office.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Complex Engineering Problems — Create advanced, domain-specific challenges spanning FEA, heat transfer, kinematics, material science, and mechatronics to rigorously test AI performance
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop precise, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI learning and model evaluation
- Audit AI Reasoning — Review AI-generated CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for technical accuracy, safety, and compliance with engineering standards (e.g., ASME, ISO)
- Identify and Correct Failures — Spot logical flaws such as incorrect force distributions or energy conservation violations, then provide structured feedback to improve the model's reasoning process
- Work Independently — Manage your own schedule and contribute asynchronously on a flexible, task-based basis
Who You Are
- Holds or is pursuing a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
- Strong foundational expertise in one or more core areas: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
- Able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely in writing
- High attention to detail — especially when reviewing mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints
- Self-motivated, reliable, and comfortable working independently
- No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
- Prior experience with data annotation, data quality, or evaluation workflows
- Proficiency in engineering software concepts such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS
- Familiarity with evaluating AI-generated code or simulation workflows
Why Join Us
- Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside top research labs and institutions
- Fully remote and flexible — work on your own schedule, from anywhere
- Freelance autonomy: choose your hours, manage your workload, and collaborate globally
- Gain firsthand exposure to how advanced large language models (LLMs) are trained and evaluated
- Meaningful work that directly shapes the technical accuracy of next-generation AI systems
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
