A significant part of their work is focused on rivers, waterways, flood modelling and environmental remediation, including projects aimed at reducing erosion and sediment entering Great Barrier Reef catchments.
They work across government, local councils, mining, resources and infrastructure, delivering technically complex projects with a strong environmental focus.
Position
We are seeking a Senior Flood & Hydraulic Modelling Engineer to join the company's growing Queensland team.
This is a hands-on technical role for an experienced flood and hydraulic modeller who can manage and deliver hydrology, flood risk and surface water modelling projects.
The position can be based anywhere in Queensland, including Brisbane, Townsville, Cairns or other locations, with flexible and remote working arrangements available.
You will work across flood risk assessments, hydrological studies and surface water projects, providing modelling outputs that support environmental and infrastructure design.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake hydrologic and hydraulic modelling using TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, RORB, XP-RAFTS or similar.
- Deliver flood risk assessments and hydrological studies.
- Model rivers, waterways, catchments and surface water systems.
- Complete modelling for mining, infrastructure, renewable energy and environmental projects.
- Undertake flood impact, spillway and flood mitigation assessments.
- Review and provide QA of hydraulic and hydrologic models.
- Support engineering and environmental design teams with modelling outputs.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
- Manage projects and build strong relationships with clients.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil, Environmental, Water Resources Engineering or similar.
- 7+ years' experience in flood modelling, hydrology or water resources engineering.
- Strong hands-on hydraulic modelling capability.
- Experience with TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, RORB, XP-RAFTS or similar.
- Strong understanding of Australian Rainfall and Runoff (ARR).
- CPEng and/or RPEQ.
- Strong technical, project management and communication skills.
- Mining, infrastructure or environmental project experience would be highly regarded.
