Our client is looking for an experienced Technical Delivery & Scrum Lead to drive focus, accountability and predictable delivery across Engineering and DevOps.
This is a hands-on delivery leadership role for someone who enjoys being actively involved in coordinating priorities, managing work intake, removing blockers, protecting engineering capacity and making sure the right work gets done at the right time. This is an influential delivery leadership role focused on coordination, governance and delivery outcomes rather than direct people management.
Working closely with the CTO, Product, Engineering and DevOps teams, you’ll translate strategic priorities into actionable delivery plans, maintain strong Agile practices and ensure teams follow the right processes while maintaining high standards of ticket and workflow hygiene.
A key part of this role will also be driving the adoption of AI-enabled engineering and delivery practices, helping teams make effective use of approved AI tools to improve productivity and delivery outcomes.
This role can be performed remotely from anywhere in Australia. Melbourne is preferred but not essential. Occasional attendance at planning sessions, workshops and company events may be required.
The Opportunity
This role is ideal for someone who can bring energy, structure, accountability and authority to a technical delivery environment.
You’ll be the person helping ensure priorities are clear, processes are followed, work is properly documented, delivery stays on track and Engineering teams remain focused on delivering meaningful outcomes.
If you’re a delivery professional who knows how to create order without slowing teams down, challenge when necessary, and keep technical delivery moving, we’d love to hear from you.
What you’ll be doing
You'll work across a broad range of technical initiatives including:
- Lead Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews and retrospectives.
- Coordinate, triage and prioritise incoming Engineering and DevOps work.
- Protect engineering capacity and minimise unnecessary context switching.
- Monitor delivery risks, blockers, dependencies and competing priorities.
- Maintain strong Jira and workflow hygiene, ensuring tickets are prioritised, documented and tracked effectively.
- Develop and monitor delivery metrics including velocity, cycle time, throughput and work ageing.
- Identify bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement across delivery processes.
- Support incident, change and operational governance.
- Help embed AI-assisted engineering practices into day-to-day technical workflows, while monitoring adoption and identifying opportunities to improve delivery outcomes.
- Act as the operational gatekeeper for Engineering and DevOps work, with authority to sequence work, challenge competing priorities, enforce agreed delivery processes and escalate delivery risks where required.
- Coordinate strategic uplift, platform modernisation, technical debt reduction and refactoring initiatives alongside feature and operational delivery.
About You
You’ll have 5+ years’ experience in Agile delivery, Scrum Master, Delivery Lead, Technical Project Management or a similar role supporting software engineering teams.
You’ll be comfortable working directly with technical teams and have the credibility to influence outcomes and hold teams accountable without direct people-management responsibility.
You'll bring experience across many of the following:
- Strong experience with Jira, Jira Service Management and the Atlassian ecosystem
- Experience working across Engineering and DevOps delivery environments
- A technical background in software engineering, infrastructure, cloud or DevOps
- Experience using delivery metrics and dashboards to improve performance and predictability
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical teams and drive process improvement without formal authority
- An understanding of AI-assisted software development and modern engineering practices
Highly Regarded
Experience with any of the following will be highly regarded:
- Experience in security-conscious, regulated or government environments.
- Familiarity with AWS, cloud-native technologies and infrastructure-as-code.
- Scrum Master, Agile or ITIL certification.
Requirements
- Australian Citizenship is essential.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government NV1 Security Clearance.
