Snap2Story

Contract · Remote, Australia · Sydney a bonus, not a requirement · Start ASAP

Snap2Story makes personalised books for children.

Upload one photo and we turn a child into a recognisable illustrated character. That character then stars in a storybook about their own life. The zoo trip. The holiday. The first day of school. Not a template with their name swapped in. Their face, their personality, their actual Tuesday, the same child from cover to final page and from one book to the next.

Parents buy for two reasons. Memory, because a day their child lived becomes a book they can hold instead of photos nobody opens again. And reading, because a child who recognises themselves on the page asks for that book at bedtime (and whilst learning) and again the next night.

Every new story stars the same character and lands in their own bookshelf. Over a few years that becomes an illustrated record of a childhood, and a shelf of books they actually want to read. Where that goes next is reading and learning built around a child who already loves opening books. That's the company we're building.

What this role actually is

We need digital content that sells books. That's the job.

Video is most of it, because that's what works on the platforms we buy on. But we also need stills, carousels, ad variants, landing page assets and email content. If it runs on a screen and moves someone closer to buying, it's in scope.

The product is the best asset we have. A photo becomes a character in front of you. A book flips open on a real child's face. Most of the content is showing that clearly and making people want it.

Be clear on the shape of the week. Most of this job is day to day content, made fast, from the product and the material we already have. Every few weeks there's a hero piece with real parents and families in it, and those are the ones we put money behind. The daily work is the job. The hero pieces are the reward for keeping the daily work good.

This is a making role, not a strategy role

We are looking for someone to make it, ship it, and find out whether it sold anything. We expect daily content, if that number sounds like a lot, this isn't the role. If it sounds like a normal week, keep reading.

Who we are

Our founders are two dads with young families who teamed up because they wanted something better for their own kids. Thousands of photos that never became anything, and shelves of books about someone else's child.

We're based in NSW. First customers are in, the app is live on iOS and Android, and families are reading Snap2Story books tonight.

We're early. We're small. We're funded. And nobody else in Australia is building this.

Why the timing matters

You'd start about ten weeks out from our Christmas order cut-off. Christmas is the exam for a business built on gifts and keepsakes, and the content made between now and then is what decides how it goes. If you want work that gets tested fast and tells you whether it worked, this is that.

What you'd be doing

  • Working closely with the founders to lead content creation, delivery and refinement.
  • Making short-form video for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and paid ads. Photo-to-character reveals, book and page transformations, product demos, founder pieces, cut-downs and remixes.
  • Making everything else that sells. Static ads, carousels, thumbnails, landing page video, email assets, app store creative.
  • Making your own raw material. Creating characters and books through our platform so you always have real output on hand, screen-recording the app, and filming founders.
  • Making the hero pieces. Every few weeks, a bigger one with real parents and families in it. You'd plan it, shoot it and cut it, then get a month of daily content out of the same footage.
  • Writing hooks and captions that sound like a person, not a brand.
  • Shipping ad-ready, with several hook and thumbnail variants per concept, so we can test fast and put money behind what works.
  • Keeping the website, app store and socials full of current work as we ship.
  • Reading the numbers with us. Shares and saves in the first 48 hours, then click-through, then purchase. You'll see what your work did and use it on the next piece.

Get this right and there's more work and a bigger budget behind you.

What this role is not

  • You won't be writing strategy decks or content calendars for approval.
  • You won't be briefing or managing freelancers. You are the person making it.
  • You won't be waiting on us for assets. You'll be making them.

You are probably a match if

  • You make digital content constantly, and you can show us things that ran.
  • You can edit fast and well in whatever you're fluent in. Premiere, Final Cut, Resolve, CapCut, all fine. We work in CapCut and Final Cut, and Canva for stills.
  • You've made content that had a commercial job to do, and you know whether it worked.
  • You understand why the first second of a video matters more than the last.
  • You write short and specific. You know "she made me read it four times" beats "an unforgettable keepsake."
  • You can shoot when you need to, and you can carry a hero piece with real people in it when it counts. A phone is a fine camera and most of what we make doesn't need more.
  • You get parents. You know what a mum shares at 9pm and what a grandad forwards to the family chat.
  • You're happy building from nothing. A brief, a phone and a founder's camera roll is enough for you to get going.
  • You're in Australia.

Motion and animation skills are a real bonus. So is anything that makes a character reveal land harder.

We don't mind whether this is your first job or your third career. Filmmaker, editor, animator, performance creative, agency editor who's over the decks. If you make good content fast and you can prove it, we want to hear from you.

A few things we hold to

  • Every illustrated child we show is real Snap2Story output. No photoreal AI-generated kids, ever. That means you'll be making real books through the platform to have something true to show.
  • Any real child in our content is there with a signed release from their parent, and we delete anything a family later asks us to.
  • No invented testimonials, no made-up numbers, no fake reviews.
  • We claim only what the product does today. No promises about reading levels or learning outcomes, and no print or delivery times we haven't confirmed with our printer.
  • We write like humans. No em dashes, no "magical," no "amazing." Specific detail over adjectives.

The offer

  • A real product families already love, and a founder's camera roll to start from.
  • Founders who'll give you direction, then get out of your way. Our founders have built succesfull businesses before, and this one is special, it means a lot to them.
  • Your work in a child's hands the same week you make it.

Apply

Send three things:

  1. Two or three pieces you made that ran somewhere, with one line each on what they were for and whether they worked (include in a simple one page cover letter, don't go over the top).
  2. Three hooks, written as text, for a video where a photo of a child turns into an illustrated character. Ten minutes of work. We're reading for instinct, not polish.
  3. A resume or a paragraph about you, and one line on how many pieces a week you can make.

We are excited! If it could be a fit, we'll be in touch within a few days.

Take a snap. Create a story.
