About Us
At Sapia.ai, we're pioneering the future of ethical, AI-powered hiring. With millions of candidates engaging with our AI interviews every year, we are redefining how talent is discovered, assessed, and nurtured. Our products are trusted by some of the world's most innovative companies, and we're just getting started.
Why this role exists
We've assessed 8M+ candidates across 47 countries, and we're innovating faster than ever, building next-gen assessment tools powered by Gen AI, validating new competency models, and helping global enterprises make fairer, smarter hiring decisions.
This role exists to help us maintain the scientific rigour that makes our AI trustworthy: conducting validation studies, supporting customer engagements, and ensuring our assessments remain fair and defensible.
This is a high-growth role for a mid-career professional seeking to build deep expertise at the intersection of people science and AI. It's a role for ambitious scientists who want to learn fast, contribute meaningfully from day one, and grow into a leader in this unique space.
What You'll Do
- Support Validation Research: Conduct adverse impact analyses, reliability studies, and criterion-related validation research on our AI-powered assessments. Help ensure our tools meet professional standards (EEOC, SIOP Principles) and build client confidence.
- Analyse Behavioural Data: Work with our extensive candidate dataset to uncover insights into hiring patterns, competency predictors, and assessment effectiveness. Build your data analysis skills while applying your psych knowledge.
- Contribute to Customer Success: Support customer-facing engagements by preparing scientific documentation, explaining methodology in client presentations, and helping answer technical questions from enterprise buyers.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with Product, Data Science, and Customer Success teams. Translate scientific concepts for non-psychologists and bring customer insights back to improve our methodology.
- Run Job Analyses: Conduct competency modelling and job analysis projects for clients, using both our Job Analysis Studio tool and traditional I/O methods. Build consulting skills while deepening your assessment expertise.
- Stay Current with Gen AI: Learn how Large Language Models work and how they're changing people science. Experiment with AI tools, read emerging research, and contribute ideas for innovation.
- Build Thought Leadership: Support white papers, conference presentations, and case studies. Start building your professional reputation while contributing to Sapia.ai's scientific credibility.
What You Bring
- MSc in I/O Psychology or related field (recent graduates welcome; PhD candidates also encouraged to apply).
- Foundation in psychometrics: You understand core concepts like reliability, validity, adverse impact, and test fairness. You can explain why these matter for real-world hiring decisions.
- Familiarity with competency modelling, job analysis, or assessment design from internships or coursework.
- Analytical mindset: You're comfortable with statistics (regression, ANOVA, correlation) and excited to level up your technical skills. Basic experience with SPSS, R, or Python is helpful, but we'll teach you what you need.
- Curiosity about AI: You don't need a technical background, but you're genuinely interested in how AI and machine learning work. You want to understand Gen AI, not just read about it.
- Communication skills: You can explain complex concepts clearly to non-experts. You're building towards being client-ready, even if you're not there yet.
- Startup mentality: You're comfortable with ambiguity, quick to adapt, and eager to learn. You see challenges as opportunities, and you're not afraid to ask questions or try new approaches.
- Growth ambition: You're not looking for "just a job"—you want to build expertise that positions you as a leader in AI-powered assessment in 3-5 years.
Good to Have
- Experience with Python, R, or SQL (even basic coursework or self-taught projects).
- Exposure to AI/ML concepts through courses, projects, or personal interest.
- Experience presenting research (thesis defence, conference posters, class presentations).
How we hire
We believe there's more to you than your CV. So, we start with a chat interview, our very own, designed to uncover your potential and give you the space to share who you are in your own words. You'll answer 5-6 role-relevant questions over chat. It's untimed and mobile-friendly. Afterwards, you'll get personalised insights from the interview based on your written responses. Our hiring team will reach out to you directly if they'd like to move forward.
