About Us

NEPKI (National Energy Public Key Infrastructure) is a newly established, not-for-profit created through a collaborative Australian energy industry initiative. We exist to enable secure, interoperable, and trusted digital identity and cryptographic services for the energy sector, supporting Australia's transition to a renewable and distributed energy future.

We don't build PKI infrastructure directly. We procure, govern, and oversee it, acting as the trusted steward of national energy PKI capability. It's a small, purposeful organisation operating at the intersection of critical infrastructure, cybersecurity, and Australia's most consequential energy transformation.

We're looking for an experienced Project Manager to join the team as our primary delivery coordinator. Initially reporting directly to the CEO, you'll translate strategic priorities into structured plans and actionable workstreams, own end-to-end delivery of complex PKI migration programs, and be the primary point of contact for the networks, manufacturers, and industry participants navigating that journey. This is a hands-on role in a lean environment where you'll need to be as comfortable preparing a board report as rolling up your sleeves to keep a workstream moving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Delivery: Lead end-to-end delivery of projects supporting the migration of networks and manufacturers from interim PKIs to NEPKI's CSIP-AUS PKI, from initiation through to benefits realisation and closure.
  • Project Governance: Establish and maintain fit-for-purpose governance frameworks, including charters, risk registers, RACI matrices, change control processes, and decision registers.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Customer Service: Serve as the primary point of contact for NEPKI's users through the migration process. Manage complex, multi-stakeholder relationships across government bodies, regulators, vendors, DNSPs, AEMO, and device manufacturers.
  • Change & Transition Management: Lead change management practices for complex digital migrations, ensuring participants are prepared, informed, and successfully onboarded to NEPKI's PKI ecosystem.
  • Reporting & Accountability: Prepare clear, concise project status reports and executive briefings for the CEO and Board. Translate complex delivery data into actionable insights.
  • Delivery Improvement: Continuously evolve NEPKI's delivery practices, tooling, and methodology as the organisation matures.

What You'll Need

  • At least 5 years managing multi-workstream projects in technology, regulated, or critical infrastructure environments.
  • Sufficient technical background to engage credibly with PKI, cybersecurity, and digital infrastructure subject matter. Direct PKI experience isn't required, providing you have the ability to get up to speed quickly.
  • Proven experience designing and operating project governance frameworks, including business case development, risk management, benefits realisation, and executive-level reporting.
  • A track record managing complex, multi-stakeholder environments with competing interests, including government bodies, vendors, and industry participants.
  • Familiarity with the Australian energy market, CER ecosystem, or regulated utilities is highly regarded but not essential.
  • A startup or small-org mindset. You’ll need to be comfortable in a lean, fast-moving environment.

Why Join NEPKI?

  • Mission-Driven Work: NEPKI sits at the centre of Australia's energy transition. The work is genuinely consequential, and the organisation is small enough that your contribution is visible.
  • Direct Impact: Reporting to the CEO, with periodic visibility to the Board, this is a critical, early role in the NEPKI organisation.
  • Competitive Package: Benchmarked to comparable critical infrastructure and cyber roles, including base, super, and performance-linked incentives.
  • Work from Anywhere: This is a fully remote role (within Australia).

If this sounds like your kind of challenge, we'd love to hear from you. Please send your CV and a short note introducing yourself via the link provided.

Applicants must be currently located in Australia, hold Australian citizenship and willing to undergo security clearances, if required in the future.
