About the Role

A leading AI research initiative is engaging experienced Software Engineers with strong multilingual programming expertise and a sharp eye for debugging and correctness. In this role, you will work with real-world codebases to design, reconstruct, and author bug-fix tasks that reflect the complexity and nuance of actual software development workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze real-world codebases to identify and reproduce bugs.
• Author well-structured bug-fix tasks with complete context and reproducible steps.
• Write and review clean, self-contained patches that align with industry best practices.
• Apply solid understanding of testing pipelines (unit, integration, regression, CI/CD).
• Contribute to open-source–style workflows and maintain traceable issue histories.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, Rust, C, or C++.
• Strong record of open-source contributions (preferably across large or actively maintained repositories).
• Demonstrated experience in debugging and resolving complex bugs in production systems.
• Solid knowledge of software testing practices and continuous integration.
• Based in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, or New Zealand.

Role Details

• Start Date: Mid to late August (applications reviewed on a rolling basis).
• Duration: Minimum 1–2 months, with potential extension.
• Commitment: 10–20 hours/week, with flexibility to scale up to 40 hours.
• Schedule: Fully remote and asynchronous.

Compensation & Contract

• Rate: $75–$100 per hour (based on experience).
• Contract Type: Independent contractor.
• Payments: Processed weekly via Stripe Connect.
