Physics Subject Matter Expert (AI Training)About The Role We're looking for physics experts to help train and evaluate cutting-edge AI models being developed by the world's leading AI research labs. Your deep understanding of physics will directly shape how AI reasons through complex scientific problems — from undergraduate fundamentals to graduate-level challenges. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role designed for physics professionals and graduate students who want to contribute to meaningful, frontier AI work on their own schedule.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Design rigorous, original physics problems spanning mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics, and more
  • Develop clear, step-by-step solutions that demonstrate precise logical reasoning
  • Evaluate AI-generated responses for scientific accuracy, depth, and quality of reasoning
  • Identify gaps, errors, and weaknesses in how AI models approach physics problems
  • Collaborate with researchers to build and refine benchmarks across undergraduate to Masters-level topics
  • Work independently and asynchronously on your own schedule

Who You Are

  • Currently pursuing or have completed a Master's degree in Physics, Applied Physics, or a closely related field
  • Strong problem-solving ability across multiple advanced physics domains
  • Able to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and precisely in writing
  • Detail-oriented with a structured approach to evaluation and feedback
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently
  • No prior AI experience required

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data annotation, evaluation systems, or academic assessment
  • Familiarity with AI or machine learning concepts
  • Background in research, tutoring, or technical writing

Why Join Us

  • Work on frontier AI projects with some of the world's top research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — design your own schedule
  • Freelance perks: high autonomy, variety, and global collaboration
  • Make a tangible impact on how AI understands and reasons through science
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract renewals
