The Election and Remote Work: Key Trends from the 2025 Salary Survey
As we navigate through 2025, remote work has firmly established itself as a cornerstone of modern employment, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Interestingly, it has also become a topic of discussion in the political arena!
This year’s Pro Bono Australia Salary Survey introduced a pivotal question for employees in the Not for Profit sector:
“On average, how many days do you work remotely?”
With many managers still trying to find the balance in managing remote and hybrid work, the survey sheds light on what employees value in their work arrangements. Alongside salary and benefits, flexibility is becoming a critical negotiation point for both current and prospective employees.
The survey, which recently closed, saw participation from 852 individuals across various organizations in the NFP and social enterprise sectors. Here’s a snapshot of the findings:
- 72% of respondents work remotely at least one day per week.
- 12% work remotely five days a week.
- 7% work remotely four days a week.
- 13% work remotely three days a week.
- 18% work remotely two days a week.
- 22% work remotely one day a week.
Participants represented organizations of all sizes—from small teams to those with over 500 staff members. Notably, 68% work full-time, with 88% working three days or more per week.
Karen Mahlab AM, Founder of Pro Bono Australia, stated, “It will be interesting to monitor this movement in our sector over the years to come.” She emphasized that the option to work remotely signifies profound changes in workplace dynamics, enabling new ways of thinking. Pro Bono Australia itself operates as a 100% virtual organization, with employees spread across three continents.
The comprehensive breakdown of remote work trends, alongside salary and benefits data, will be detailed in the upcoming 2025 Salary Survey Report, set to be released in May. Stay tuned for more insights!
