Business Development AssociateAbout Emmi

Emmi is an impact-driven climate tech company. We believe a low carbon economy is possible, and that properly incentivising and mobilising capital is the fastest and most cost-effective way to reach Net Zero and beyond.

Emmi provides emissions data and climate risk analysis across all major public and private asset classes, enabling investors and corporates to meet reporting obligations and align portfolios with net-zero outcomes.

Our strategy is simple: be everywhere our customers access data. That means delivering our climate intelligence not only directly to financial institutions, but also through the platforms, software providers, and data distributors that power modern investment workflows.

We’re looking for a Business Development Associate to help accelerate our growth.

The Role

We’re looking for a Business Development Associate to help grow Emmi’s commercial pipeline.

Your primary focus will be identifying potential customers and partners, generating meetings, and supporting the sales process.

You will report to the Head of Commercial and work closely with the Head of Sales & Partnerships and our marketing team to identify opportunities, engage prospective clients and build new commercial relationships.

You’ll help drive outreach and pipeline development across two key customer segments:

  • Institutional investors (asset owners, asset managers and investment consultants), and
  • SaaS platforms and data providers that distribute financial data and analytics.

This is an externally facing role focused on business development and sales support rather than full-cycle enterprise sales. You’ll help create opportunities, open new relationships and support the progression of deals.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys researching prospects, building relationships, and creating new opportunities through targeted outreach.

What you'll do

  • Identify and research potential clients including asset owners, asset managers, consultants, and financial institutions
  • Identify SaaS platforms, analytics providers and data distribution partners that could integrate or distribute Emmi’s data
  • Generate qualified meetings through targeted outreach, networking and follow-up
  • Conduct outreach through email, LinkedIn and industry networks
  • Work closely with the Head of Sales & Partnerships to prioritise outreach targets and develop pipeline
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to align outreach with campaigns and messaging
  • Support the commercial team by building and maintaining a strong sales pipeline
  • Coordinate and schedule introductory meetings, demos and follow-up discussions
  • Assist with distribution partner engagement, identifying potential integration and partnership opportunities
  • Maintain CRM records, pipeline tracking and sales reporting
  • Support responses to RFPs, DDQs and sales materials with input from internal teams
  • Assist with conference preparation, prospect research and event follow-up

What success looks like

In your first 6–12 months you will:

  • Consistently generate qualified meetings with institutional investors and platform partners
  • Help build a strong and growing commercial pipeline
  • Improve outreach messaging and targeting through testing and iteration
  • Become confident explaining Emmi’s value proposition to prospective clients and partners
  • Support the commercial team in progressing opportunities through the sales pipeline

About you

We’re looking for someone with:

  • 1–3 years experience in business development, sales support, partnerships or client-facing roles
  • Strong communication skills and confidence reaching out to new contacts
  • Interest in financial markets, climate tech or ESG
  • A proactive and organised approach to managing outreach and follow-ups
  • Comfort using tools such as LinkedIn, CRM systems and sales prospecting tools
  • A willingness to learn about institutional investors and financial data platforms

Nice to have:

  • Experience in financial services, SaaS or data businesses
  • Exposure to institutional investors or investment consulting
  • Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment
  • Familiarity with ESG, climate analytics, or financial data platforms

The right candidate will be

  • A proactive self-starter who enjoys building new relationships
  • Comfortable reaching out to new contacts and initiating conversations
  • Highly organised and able to manage multiple opportunities at once
  • Curious and eager to learn about climate finance and institutional investing
  • Motivated by the opportunity to help grow a mission-driven business
  • Passionate about climate change and excited to be part of the solution

Why join Emmi

You’ll be joining a small, ambitious team working on one of the most important challenges of our time: accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy.

We offer:

  • Remote-first working anywhere in Australia
  • Flexible hours focused on outcomes, not time at a desk
  • Competitive salary and equity in the business
  • Additional annual and personal leave
  • Generous parental leave policies
  • Opportunities for learning, volunteering and professional development
  • Regular team offsites and opportunities to collaborate in person

At Emmi, everyone is hands-on. We move quickly, try new ideas, learn from what doesn’t work, and celebrate the progress we make together.

We strongly encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds. Even if you don’t meet every requirement, we’d still love to hear from you if you’re excited about the role and the mission.

Please note, candidates must be located in Australia and have full working rights.
