What we need from you / What our client requires

• 12+ years of IT experience, with at least 6+ years in SAS Mainframe Architecture.
• Pesponsible for understanding existing SAS code and processes, ensuring seamless integration with COBOL, JCL, and mainframe utilities.
• Defining the roadmap to modernize SAS pipelines into cloud-native equivalents.
• Strong stakeholder communication and leadership skills, ideally in banking/financial services domains.

Role Description:SAS Code Expertise:

• Reverse-engineer, analyze, and document existing SAS codebases running on mainframe (z/OS).
• Interpret complex SAS jobs, including macros, stored processes, Datasets, PROCs, and data transformations.
• Optimize existing SAS workloads for efficiency, scalability, and maintainability.
• Provide recommendations where SAS jobs can be refactored, consolidated, or replaced with modern tooling.

Modernisation & Cloud Transition:

• Design the end-to-end architecture for migrating SAS jobs, datasets, and reports into modern data and analytics platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, or SAS Viya).
• Map existing SAS workflows to equivalent cloud-native ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Collaborate with data engineers to re-engineer batch-driven SAS processes into real-time or micro-batch pipelines.

Required Skills:SAS & Mainframe Expertise with Modernization Exposure:

• Strong expertise in SAS Base, SAS Macro, SAS SQL, and PROC-based programming.
• Proven ability to analyze large SAS codebases and derive modernization requirements.
• Hands-on experience with SAS on Mainframe (z/OS) for job execution, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Proficient in Mainframe technologies: JCL, COBOL, DB2, and VSAM.
• Skilled in integrating SAS jobs with traditional mainframe workflows and databases.
• Familiar with batch scheduling tools: CA7, Control-M, and ESP.
• Involved in large-scale SAS-to-cloud migration and modernization projects.
• Good understanding of modern cloud data platforms like Databricks and Snowflake.
