A devastating crash near Shark Bay in remote Western Australia has left two people dead and a child fighting for life.
The incident occurred on the North West Coastal Highway in Hamelin Pool, approximately 260 kilometres south of Exmouth, at around 11:30am (1:30pm AEST) on Monday.
According to police, one of the vehicles involved was towing a caravan, which rolled during the accident.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the Royal Flying Doctor Service airlifted the critically injured child to Perth, with the flight touching down shortly before 6pm.
The child remains in a serious condition in hospital.
Major crash investigators are now examining the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
This heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of remote road travel in Australia's vast outback, where help can be far away and road conditions unpredictable.
