Opportunity to Tutor Groups with Minimal Admin Work: As a UCAT Tutor at Contour, rather than tutoring one student at a time, you’ll have the opportunity to motivate groups of students with your knowledge and experience, without the hassle of excessive admin work and finding students. There is no requirement for marketing, content creation, billing, or other administrative tasks - all you need to do is take simple attendance and address student questions promptly outside of class via our texting platform! Access to High-Quality Tutoring Material: You’ve probably spent (or will end up spending) hundreds of unpaid hours making tutoring resources for your students. We know it can be an extremely time-consuming process, and arguably one of the more boring and tedious parts of being a tutor. But that’s where we come in! We’ve already spent thousands of hours creating resources and detailed notes for our UCAT program. All we need now is you - the tutor! All you have to do is prepare for your tutoring session by reviewing the class workbooks beforehand and provide an excellent tutoring experience to your students. Comprehensive Training & Support: When you join, you'll be onboarded with all the training and personal feedback you need to thrive. You'll work closely with our Senior UCAT Tutors to upskill and refine your tutoring skills, and you’ll be thoroughly introduced to all of our software and processes. By the end of your training, the role will become second-nature to you and you’ll feel confident running high-quality and engaging lessons for your students. You’ll also have regular 1-on-1 check-ins and ongoing group training to help accelerate your personal and professional development within the role, with lots of peer feedback, team meetings and social catch-ups to help you build long-lasting, genuine relationships with the rest of our amazing team! Build Lasting Relationships: This isn't an ordinary teaching or company tutoring role where you'll be tutoring boring content with unenthusiastic students. Instead, you'll have the chance to connect with dozens of young and talented people as you deliver engaging lessons. You’ll share moments of encouragement, build lasting relationships, and play a crucial role in supporting students through their medical preparation. There is a large and rapidly increasing interest from new students for our UCAT Course, so you'll have many opportunities to talk to people and let your personality shine. As a medical student who has navigated the challenging stages of the UCAT journey, you'll use your experience to help others overcome the same hurdles and boost their confidence in getting into their dream course. Key Responsibilities The UCAT Tutor role involves a few unique responsibilities as outlined below, all conducted remotely. We pride ourselves on compensating and rewarding our tutors generously for their hard work, and our rate ranges from $25/hour to $90/hour (+ Super), depending on the type of work you complete, as outlined in-depth below. UCAT Practical Lessons: Engaging and interactive weekly 1-hour small-group lessons via Zoom, for 4-20 students at a time. Here, you'll have the opportunity to create a friendly and motivating atmosphere, build strong relationships and inspire students to unlock their full potential! 1-on-1 Consultations: Conduct personalised 30-minute 1-on-1 consultations via Zoom, where you’ll discuss each student’s progress. In this supportive environment, your goal is to get to know students’ weaknesses and create actionable plans to help them improve and excel. You’ll be provided with a guide and thorough training for each type of consultation we offer, as well as a written summary template for you to screenshare & fill in during the session, for the student to be sent later. Attend Content Lessons: Participate actively in our weekly 2-hour content lessons led by our Head UCAT Tutor for 600+ students. This is where you’ll answer your students’ questions via the Zoom chat and provide valuable insights to the class where necessary, showcasing your knowledge and contributing to their learning experience! Opportunities to be Involved in our ‘Special Events’: This includes our interstate trips to NSW/QLD/WA/SA for our Live UCAT Testing Centres, In-Person workshops at major universities, and smaller scale workshops at schools! This is a fun and exciting way to make a large impact on medical preparation in Australia. Text-Based Student Support: Outside of class, you’re also expected to answer student queries related to the UCAT, school, medical admissions and anything else (reasonably) that they need support with! Your quick replies and initiative to follow up with those who may be struggling will make a significant difference in their experience, ensuring they feel supported and engaged as they work to maximise their potential. Training & Meetings: Complete our comprehensive initial onboarding and training as you get started in the role. There will also be ongoing weekly meetings and training sessions in both a group and 1-on-1 format, giving every team member a chance to contribute, discuss their progress and collaborate on ways to improve. Expected Work Hours Training In-Person Training at our Melbourne CBD Campus from 9am - 6pm on the 26th, 27th and 28th of November. Flights and accommodation will be arranged for you if required. Asynchronous Online Training from the 1st to the 14th of December for a total of around 20 hours. Regular Weekly Work from Dec 15 to August 23. Team Meeting: 6PM - 7PM Every Sunday Content Lesson: 7PM - 9PM Every Sunday Practical Lessons: 6 hours total per week, spread over 2 weekdays (must be Mon, Tue, or Wed) 1-On-1 Consultations: Average of 4 hours per week, which varies based on the time of the year. NOTE: The time requirements above are estimated and flexible. There is an option to work more or less, depending on your schedule and preference, so just let us know!
